Ray L. Campo Jr.'s Obituary
Ray L. Campo Jr., 76, died on January 26, 2026, in Lacombe, Louisiana. He was born on January 18, 1950, in Houston, Texas, to Ray Campo Sr. and Merrill Campo.
Ray graduated from Central Catholic High School in Morgan City and proudly served in the United States Navy. He attended Nicholls State University and Louisiana State University, pursuing a lifelong commitment to education and professional development. Ray devoted his career to healthcare, working first as a respiratory therapist and later as a nurse practitioner, a role in which he was deeply invested and professionally driven.
Ray is survived by his wife, Phyllis Campo; his daughter, Ashley Campo Souza (Gustavo); his son, Shawn Campo (Tiffany); his stepsons, Jason Cucchiara (Rachel) and Grant George (Stephanie); his grandsons, Maddux and Thorin Campo; and his siblings Melanie O’Neill, Lisa Hildago (Tom), Mark Campo (Gina), and Don Campo. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ray will be laid to rest with military honors at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ray’s memory to the Military Family Assistance Fund through the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs or Honor Flight Louisiana.
