Phyllis Charbonnet Knapp's Obituary
Phyllis Charbonnet Knapp, a Lacombe resident for more than 50 years, passed from this life on December 19,2025. Born in New Orleans to the late Arthur and Elmer Zettwoch (nee) Charbonnet, Phyllis was married to the late Burton L. Knapp. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Merle Taylor, Arthur Charbonnet Jr., Ursula Lapoutche, and Erna Ferrara, as well as a daughter, Leslie, and son, Michael. She is survived by her son, Wayne (Kristy), her daughter, Suzanne, grandchildren Bria Knapp and Jessica Knapp-Johnson (Thomas), and one great- granddaughter, Gabrielle. Phyllis also was well loved by many nieces, nephews (who lovingly called her Aunt Tizzy), friends and a strong church family at Living Word in Lacombe.
Phyllis worked more than 27 years, at Stennis Space Center, as a switch board operator.
She was a member of the Descendants of the Mayflower Society, where she served as the secretary and had an educational role from 1982-2000. She also enjoyed outings and fellowships with members of her local Red Hat Society, the New Image Club, and an AARP group at the local Community Center in Mandeville. As a member of Volunteers of America, she would often read to young children at local day care facilities. She received several awards for her volunteer services. Phyllis enjoyed gardening, cards and board games, making clothes for her granddaughters when they were young, and fellowship with friends and family after retirement.
