Martha Lynn Blaize Post's Obituary
Martha Lynn Blaize Post passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026. She was born in Dallas, Texas, on September 23, 1941.
She is survived by her daughters, Marylea Fears, Samantha Anderson (Terry), Susan Carter (Howell), and Heidi Post and her brother Samuel Allen Blaize (Cheryl). She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Andrew Carter (Lucie), Caroline Carter Gordon (Andrew), Lily Carter Fisher (Blake), Katherine Brennan, and Ryan Anderson; six great-grandchildren, Aimee Carter, Susan Carter, Eli Cheramie, Benjamin Gordon, Noelle Gordon, and John (Jack) Carter; and honorary son, John LaBruzzo.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Daniel Alfred Post; and her parents, Mary Elizabeth McDonald Blaize and Gabriel Yves Blaize.
Martha relocated to New Orleans with her family at a young age. She went on to attend Warren Easton High School before graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. She began her career at Tulane Medical Center, where she worked until marrying her beloved husband, Dan. Afterward, she devoted herself fully to raising their daughters. Once they were grown, Martha returned to the workforce, first as a real estate title abstractor and later as a legislative administrative assistant.
Martha will be remembered first and foremost for the warmth of her home - a place where no one left hungry and every guest was treated like family. Her kitchen was her happy place, where she expressed love through carefully prepared meals, time-honored recipes, and the simple joy of feeding others. Her cooking skills earned her several awards in local and national cooking contests. Whether it was a holiday feast or an ordinary evening dinner, she made every occasion feel special.
Her creativity reached well beyond the kitchen. Martha lovingly gathered her favorite recipes into a cherished family cookbook that will be treasured for generations. She was also a skilled seamstress, known for her careful mending and creating beautiful handmade dresses and clothing for her family. In her garden, she found both joy and serenity, devoting special care to her numerous rose bushes. With patience and pride, she cultivated many award-winning blooms and earned recognition from the Rose Society.
Above all, she was a loving mother whose kindness, strength, and unwavering support shaped the lives of those she leaves behind. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she passed down, the lessons she taught, and the love she gave so freely. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Dementia Society of America.
The family extends their sincere thanks to the staff at the Christwood Longleaf Memory Care Unit and to the nurses at St. Tammany Hospital Hospice Care. Their dedication and compassionate care truly made a difference.
