Marcelyn “Marcie” Cooley Moser passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 in Covington, LA. She was 96. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, 1 brother and 3 husbands. She is survived by her children, Sandie Patton, J Read Obituary
I've been trying to come up with words to express my feelings. She was a fun aunt, always happy and energetic. She was delightful to visit and talk with. She cooked weird things (to me including tongue). I stayed overnight when Sandi and I were both very young, I babysat with John when he had a monster gorilla he had to sleep with. He was about 2 and my parents were really in charge. She was the most mobile of my relatives, moving from one coast to the other to the other, stopping back in Ohio for a bit between moves. I guess she finally found her home with the Lord she loved so much. RIP Aunt Marcie.
When I met Marcie in 1974, I was greeted with her warm, kind, beautiful smile. It was not so much the look of Marcie’s smile but the good feeling it left me with every time. May you rest in the arms of your Lord in abiding Peace.

My favorite memory of Marcie was every Sunday morning when she greeted me with that beautiful smile in the choir room at Waldheim Church. She was so happy to be there singing praises to the Lord with that gorgeous voice, a gift from God! We will sing together one day again my friend! Love Nannette Weatherly
Marcie was a beautiful lady who loved the Lord and eagerly shared her faith in our Bible studies. She was a very unique person and asked a lot of questions about the meaning of the bible passages. We all were inspired by her eagerness to dig deeper and we all benefitted from her questions. She is a role model for a good and faithful servant. Marcie, we will all miss you! Marcie was like a 2nd Mom for me for a few years while John Cooley and I romped in the woods, fished, trick-or-treated, and did some "other" things from 3rd-6th grades. Rare was the weekend or summer night we didn't "sleep over" at my house or his. She was awesome.
Marcie sang in the choir at FUMC Covington. She was almost blind and could not read the music; however, Marcie knew most of the hymns and could sing along. Even on new songs, once Marcie heard the music, she could sing with us. Marcie had a beautiful voice and a beautiful soul, I know she is walking with Jesus in Heaven now!
