Linda Dickerson McLean's Obituary
Linda Dickerson McLean passed away on Wednesday June 2, 2021 at the age of 77. Beloved wife of Jack Hanson McLean for fifty one years Loving mother to Robin D. McLean and Jennifer Kim McLean, loving sister Margaret D. Woodward.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Minor Lewis Dickerson and Retha Bell Horne Dickerson.
Linda was many things. Kindhearted, fun loving, adventurous, and tough as nails are just some adjectives that would best describe her. Health wise, she has had a tough road since 2003, when she had a seizure, and was discovered to have a tumor on her brain. She survived that, and stage 4 lung cancer, along with living with COPD for many years, and rarely let her health slow her down. She was known to be feisty, but was also incredibly kind, even if she perhaps didn't see or appreciate her own kindness that we saw in her every day.
Linda never got to meet her father, as he was killed in a plane crash in World War Two, but she was incredibly proud of him and his service to our country. Her mother raised her to be independent and proud, but also with a sense of humor and a zest for life.
Linda was a homebody who loved her home, gardening and cooking. She had an eye for decorating and an amazing palette for cooking. She always made sure her family and any visitors were well fed, and she would never say no to a glass of champagne or chocolate.
Linda was always a tomboy at heart, and had a love for all animals, but was passionate about horses and dogs. She sacrificed a great deal to see to it that Kim managed to get enough riding and practice time in to prepare for horse show season and spent nearly every weekend transporting Kim and horses to various shows across Louisiana, and Mississippi.
For her daughters, Linda was who they'd bring stray cats to and beg to keep them (and there were many strays!), though it was later in life they learned she was allergic and not really a cat person. She had a kind heart and opened her home despite the allergies.
Unbeknownst to her husband and oldest daughter, she'd written not one, but three unpublished science fiction books.
Linda had a zest for life and loved going on road trips with her family. She had class and style, and always seemed to choose the best clothing for her family. Any time Jack was sharply dressed, you could thank Linda.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Covington Presbyterian Church 222 South Jefferson Avenue Covington, LA 70433 on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 10:00 AM. No visitation will be observed. Interment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
