Floyd B. Cox's Obituary
Floyd B. Cox passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. He was born in Amite, LA on August 7, 1947.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Taylor Cox; his children, Melinda Cox, Stephanie Couture (Brent) and Cathy Cox; grandchildren, Rebecca Mowen (Chris), Stephen Beach, Caroline Beach, Caitlin Ancar (Josh), Corey Donovan (fiancé Kaylee Bobo), Masson Couture and Ethan Couture. He is also survived by his siblings, Dwane Cox, Carolyn Hyde and Ronnie Cox.
He was preceded in death by his parents Annie Mae Cox Jones and Jewel James Cox, and siblings, Jewel James Cox, Jr., Shirley Bennett and Helen Bankston.
Floyd, affectionally known as Papa, was guided each day by the profound love he had for the Lord, his family and friends. He loved people and never met a stranger. He was kind and generous; always there to extend a helping hand to anyone in need and never needed anyone to acknowledge what he had done. He kept that between him and the Lord. He loved to tend his garden, cook and see family and friends gathered around his table. If his house was full, his heart was full.
His greatest legacy would be to see his family and friends pay forward the life he lived. Be honest and kind. Help those who can’t help themselves and those who are less fortunate. Be forgiving because as he liked to say, “it won’t matter 40 years from now”. Be generous even when you don’t believe you have enough and love your neighbor.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington LA 70433 on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM with visitation on day beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery.
