Fabienne "Faye" Lavoie Lamandre's Obituary
On March 29th, 2021 the world lost a beautiful soul. Fabienne “Faye” Maureen Lamandre passed away peacefully at home, hand in hand with her loving husband of over twenty years, Sal Lamandre. She was a devout Catholic and has now officially gained her wings. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joan and Regis Lavoie, and sister Adrienne McKeever. Faye is survived by Sal, his children and family, her sister Joanne Carruthers, beloved nieces and nephews, her dedicated friends, loving neighbors, and furry friend “Shugee.” Faye had a loving circle of girlfriends and she determinedly kept in touch and honored those friendships. She was especially grateful for Paulette Heller and family. Those who knew her best would describe her as a fashionable, quick witted, kind, animal-loving, high spirited, gorgeous woman. She was nicknamed “Fancy Faye” by those closest to her and was a proud “VA-VA” to her nieces and nephews whom she adored.
Faye was born September 16th, 1940 in London, Ontario, Canada. She had a fun-filled childhood with her sisters despite the hardships of W.W.2. While Canada always had a special place in her heart, she set off to the U.S. to pursue a career. She briefly lived in Chicago. Later she moved to the “Big Easy” where she helped run the famous Accent Annex Mardi Gras accessory company. There she helped the people of New Orleans “Let the Good Times Roll” for several years.
Faye met the love of her life Sal, and they married in 2000. They lived happily in Bush, LA, in the beautiful, rural home that Sal built overlooking the lake.
While all people loved her plenty, the four-legged friends loved her even more. She adored her spunky Yorkie dogs Buddy, Vinny, Tiger, and Shugee. She also was a dedicated supporter of the local animal shelter.
Faye was a skilled painter. She blessed the community and many family members with paintings of their children and favorite pets. She spent every Tuesday in the women’s “Who Dats” bowling league at Tiffany Lanes in Mandeville. She would admit that she was never a good bowler, but she enjoyed the company, and laughing with the “girls”.
Family and friends are welcome at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave, Covington, on Monday April 5 from 9-11am for a visitation, which will be followed immediately with a Memorial Mass celebrated by Father Kenneth Allen of St. Jane de Chantel Parish.
