Alvin "Al" Carter's Obituary
Alvin “Al” Carter, age 75, of Covington, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025. He was born on September 6, 1950 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Colleen Ducarpe Carter; children, Brian Carter (Victoria), Neil Carter, Shane Carter, Stefanie Bertram (Brooks), Ashley Brulet (Bobby) and Michelle Lay Patterson; grandchildren, Paige Bertram, Brooks Bertram, Olivia Brulet, Ella Brulet, Jaxon Patterson, and Remy Patterson; sibling, Ruby Evans; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ransom George Carter and Myrle Albe Carter Stoyka; siblings, Gail Carter and Roscoe Carter; son, Greg Carter; and granddaughter Madeline Brulet. Alvin was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. After high school graduation from East Jefferson in 1968, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served aboard the USS Constellation during the Vietnam War. Following honorable military discharge, Al was employed by the United States Postal Service for 37 years where he met his “heart and soul”, Colleen. After retirement in 2008, he cherished the lake life living on Lake Ramsey and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, bowling, playing cards, and his cats Lulu and Chivy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Hosanna Lutheran Church, 222 South Jefferson Avenue, Covington, Louisiana with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment with military honors will be at 12:30 pm in Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, Louisiana. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home of Covington, Louisiana, is honored to be entrusted with Mr. Carter’s funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Carter may be made to The Cancer Association of Louisiana.
