Crystal Marie Downey

Crystal Marie Downey passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the age of 54. She was born on December 1, 1968 in Gulfport, MS to Joseph Charles Thomas and Bobbie June Welch Thomas. Crystal is survived by her loving husband, Shannon Downey; two beautiful daughters, Meghan and Madison; stepchildren, Shannon and Sarah; brother, Will Mitchell; and son-in-law, John Pierce. She is also survived by her ex-husband of 23 years, Lance Copeland; her sisters of the AMSC; her cousin, Carrie Thomas; colleagues/ friends of 31years; and her lifelong friends. Crystal was an alumnus of Louisiana Tech, earning her Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management. Crystal’s professional career span over 23 years as a Customer Success director and more recently sales director for FinThrive. Crystal was a social butterfly. She was warm, compassionate, understanding, forgiving, and loving. She never met a stranger and therefore was a friend to all. She never had a bad word to say of anyone. She enjoyed adventures, the sisterhood of her social club and events such as marching in the Irish/ Italian parades. She enjoyed reading and her sisters in her book club. She enjoyed volunteering. Always educating herself. She had a passion for finding knowledge. More recently enjoying the quiet and peacefulness of finding a shade tree to fish under. However, her true passion was spending time with her loving family and friends. Crystal was unique and irreplaceable, well respected and loved by all. Her smile lit up any room, filling it with her infectious laughter, impacting anyone blessed to witness her presence and will be deeply missed by all whose lives she’s touched, making a lasting impact for the better. Crystal also lives on as an organ donor.
