JoAnne Vallery Pulitzer

JoAnne Vallery Pulitzer of Mandeville, LA passed away peacefully on August 11, 2023, in Covington, LA, surrounded by her loving and devoted family. JoAnne is survived by her daughter Vallery Cambre, her son Chris Dazet, grandchildren Dylan (Hannah) and Dalton Cambre, Madeleine and Carter Dazet, and sisters Pamela Vallery, Carolyn Robinson, and brother Gordon Vallery, Jr. (Brenda), and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers James and Randall Vallery, and parents Audrey Vallery and Gordon Vallery, Sr. of Sulphur, LA. Born in New Orleans, JoAnne attended Riverdale High School in nearby Jefferson, LA. She started her career in the appraisal industry with Charlie O’Brien. She continued to work in appraisals with Becky Deano and later worked in the St. Tammany Assessor’s Office. She was devoted to her career and to the people with whom she worked. JoAnne was a nature lover. She loved birds and gardening, and she took great care of the box turtle who lived in her backyard. She also had a passion for music, and her fondness for Zydeco dancing was legendary. JoAnne’s ability to listen to friends and family was exceptional. Her advice was insightful and welcomed by those fortunate enough to have known her. She had a tremendous sense of grace and style and a refreshingly positive outlook on life. Her loving hands touched the lives of many but were most deeply reflected in the nurturing of her children and grandchildren, in whom she had immense pride. Although she will be greatly missed, JoAnne’s love of life will forever reside in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Profound thanks are due to the many incredible friends and family members who provided support to JoAnne over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, to Northshore Food Bank in Covington, LA or to the charity of your choice. A Celebration of Life for JoAnne will be held on Saturday, August 19, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the St. Ann Wine Bar, 22 St Ann Drive #2, Mandeville, LA.
